South Africa

The shortage of qualified human resources is one of the consequences of apartheid which is confronting South Africa with great challenges. CIM’s strategic activities in South Africa take place mainly in the development policy priority areas agreed between South Africa and Germany. These areas are:

  • municipal development
  • good governance
  • promotion of vocational training.

In South Africa CIM is also working on a cross-cutting theme of German Development Cooperation: HIV/AIDS.

GIZ supports CIM in the implementation of its programme on the ground and cooperates closely with CIM experts, e.g. in the priority areas:

  • promotion of vocational training
  • municipal development.
