El Salvador

As agreed between El Salvador and Germany, the CIM strategic activity areas in El Salvador lie primarily within the following development policy priority areas:

• Economic development and employment promotion 
• Decentralisation and municipal development.

Due to the difficult political and institutional environment in El Salvador, CIM is currently onsite with only a single small-scale programme. We will be seeking an intensification of cooperation in future, working closely with other German development cooperation institutions.

In addition, CIM engagement in El Salvador includes regional programmes such as Promotion of Youth, and Energy Efficiency.

GIZ supports CIM on site with implementation of its programmes and cooperates closely with CIM experts, for example, in the GIZ programme

• Sustainable Economic Development in Central America (DESCA).
