Nicaragua

As agreed between Nicaragua and Germany, the CIM strategic activity areas in Nicaragua lie primarily within the following development policy priority areas:

• Decentralisation, strengthening the rule of law and democracy
• Environmental policy, protection and sustainable use of natural resources
• Water supply and wastewater disposal.

Due to the difficult political and institutional environment in Nicaragua, CIM is currently on site with only a single, small-scale programme. We will be seeking an intensification of cooperation in future, working closely with other German development cooperation institutions.

In addition, CIM engagement in El Salvador includes the German development cooperation cross-sectoral theme: Renewable Energies. 

GIZ supports CIM on site in implementing its programmes and cooperates closely with CIM experts, for example, in the following GIZ programme:

• Sustainable Resource Conservation and Promotion of Entrepreneurial Competence (MASRENACE).
