Tunisia

CIM’s strategic activities in Tunisia take place mainly in the development policy priority areas agreed between Tunisia and Germany. These areas are:
  • economic reform and development of the market system
  • environmental protection and sanitation.

CIM is striving to intensify future cooperation, especially in industrial environmental protection. In view of the Euro-Mediterranean Free Trade Zone planned for 2010, CIM is increasingly supporting Tunisia in the reforms already launched within the country's private sector.

In response to the request of partners with special development policy relevance, CIM is also working in the health system, e.g. in training orthopaedic technicians. Here CIM makes use of its scope to act outside development policy priority areas.

GIZ supports CIM in the implementation of its programmes on the ground and cooperates closely with CIM experts, particularly in the GIZ programmes

  • private sector promotion
  • vocational training.

With the Returning Experts Programme, CIM also supports Tunisian experts returning to Tunisia after studying, undertaking vocational training or working in Germany. They work primarily as engineers or information scientists.
